If your OnePlus device is still running OxygenOS 14, you’re missing out on a host of exciting features and enhancements. Here are five compelling reasons why you should hit the install button as soon as the OxygenOS 15 reaches your OnePlus phone.
5 Reasons why you should upgrade to Android 15
1. Faster and a lot smoother
The animations and app switching are now much smoother, thanks to the newly introduced Parallel Processing. It also makes other operations, such as opening a widget or folder, feel snappier.

This new feature allows multiple apps to operate simultaneously instead of handling them one by one, thus reducing the lag, even under heavy workloads.
OxygenOS 15 is lightweight as well. On OnePlus 12, the new software saves around 20% storage by removing redundant features.
2. Exciting AI features
The latest software also packs a suite of AI features to enhance your images from the Gallery. One such feature is AI Detail Boost, which upscales photos to 4K resolution so you can crop them without losing quality.

To help you remove glares in images, OxygenOS 15 has an AI Reflection Eraser that results in non-distracting images. It also brings AI Unblur to remove blur from your photos.

These AI features aren’t perfect, like any other phone. However, they’re far better than not having them, as they do an excellent job most of the time.
AI also comes to the Notes app to help users generate new content, format existing notes, and change the tone.
3. Circle to Search
Circle to Search made headlines when it was introduced with the Galaxy S24 series. It’s an exciting feature you’ll either use a lot or not at all. This feature lets users search for anything showing on the screen by drawing a circle around it.

It’s very helpful for me to find tech gadgets appearing in my shots/reels feed. Previously, I had to take a screenshot and scan it using Google Lens, making it a two-step process.
4. OnePlus OneTake
Another OxygenOS 15 feature that I really love. It delivers a seamless transition from the always-on display to the lock screen and then to the main screen. It’s an excellent addition that gives a satisfying unlock experience.
5. Theft protection
There’s always something to improve privacy, and OxygenOS 15 is no different. It brings theft protection to safeguard your data in the event of theft. It uses Google’s AI to determine if someone has snatched your device or runs away with it, and then the lock is activated automatically to prevent unauthorized access.
If the thief manages to power off your device or remove the SIM card, an offline lock is activated. You can also remotely lock the device using the FindMyDevice portal without signing into your Google account.
These are some nice additions to OxygenOS 15 I really like. Share your thoughts on OxygenOS 15 in the comments below.
