Android 15: When Is It Coming?
Android 15 is currently going through the beta phase. Google has already released multiple beta builds, the latest being Beta 2.2.
In the coming weeks, we’ll have a few more beta builds to refine existing features, add new features, and fix known bugs and conflicts.
According to the official timeline, the OS will enter the platform stability phase around July to add final touches before the public rollout.
Android 15 follows a similar release timeline as last year’s Android 14. So, if everything goes that way, the new OS should drop in October.
As soon as the stable Android 15 build is announced, it’ll become available for eligible Google Pixel devices.
What’s So Exciting About Android 15?
1. App Pairs
Android 15 allows saving your favorite app pairs to launch them instantly in the split screen mode. Sadly, the official website only mentions it for wide screen devices. This means we are unlikely to find it on smartphones.
2. Theft Detection Lock
If someone steals your phone and runs away with it, your Android 15 detects the motion and locks it automatically. The device locks itself automatically even if it detects suspicious activities like multiple failed login attempts or constant attempts to disconnect the device.
The best part is that the device can’t be set up using a different Google account after the thief factory reset it. They will need your Google account credentials to set things up. It’s much like Apple’s Find My feature.
3. Private Space
Android 15 lets you hide your super secret stuff (apps, photos, videos, etc) under an additional layer of protection. It’s called Private Space.
Files you download in the Private Space won’t be visible to the other space. Even apps from Private Space won’t show up in the recent apps tray.
