Motorola phones that will get five major Android upgrades

Motorola has had a terrible software update policy for its phones. No, we are not only talking about entry-level and mid-range phones, but the flagship ones have been suffering as well. Only recently, the brand changed its mind to offer as many as five Android updates, but this treat is only given to select newer models.

Motorola Edge 50 Neo was the company’s first phone to promise five Android updates, and then it expanded to many newer models. Sadly, no bonus has been given to older devices. Even the latest Razr 50 series will only get three Android updates.

Below, we’ve curated a list of Motorola phones that are eligible to receive five Android updates.

These Motorola phones will get 5 Android updates

  • Motorola Edge 50 Neo
  • Motorola Moto G75
  • Motorola ThinkPhone 25

It’s surprising to see Edge 50 Neo getting 5 OS updates, but more pricier models from the lineup, such as the Edge 50 Fusion and Edge 50 Ultra, only getting three major updates.

Motorola seems to be standardizing five Android updates to all mid-range and premium models going forward, previously capped at three.

Where does Motorola stand against its competitors?

The new update policy from Motorola promising five Android updates is better than many brands, and will give potential buyers more confidence. However, it’s not the best you’ll get on Android devices.

Samsung and Google are at the top with seven years of Android updates to their high-end phones. Even if Motorola matches that, there will still be a huge gap in the update rollouts.

Motorola’s software rollout has been sluggish throughout the years and hasn’t improved a lot lately. But, now it seems the brand has started working on it as the stable Android 15 update is already rolling out for some phones, including the Edge 50 Fusion and Edge 50 Ultra. In the past, new Android updates had been rolling out to Motorola phones in the next year of an Android release.

Hopefully, the brand will keep working on the software rollout that it becomes a strong area for Motorola.
