Samsung explains why One UI 7 is taking longer than expected

Samsung has been quicker than most non-Google brands in bringing the latest Android OS to its devices. However, Android 15 rollout has been sluggish so far. In fact, the brand hasn’t released the stable One UI 7.0/Android 15 update to a single Galaxy device. Only the Galaxy S25 series has access to it, which comes with One UI 7.0 out of the box.

While the One UI 7 rollout plan is still under the cover, Samsung finally speaks on what’s causing so much delay to One UI 7.0. In a recent interview published on Samsung’s Indonesian website, Samsung’s software chief, Sally, revealed the company’s mindset behind One UI 7 release. She said, the brand wanted to make a significant leap with One UI 7, spending over two year on planning alone.

for One UI 7, we took a slightly different approach. Usually, UI updates are done every year. However, for this version, we wanted to make a big breakthrough, which required careful planning since two to three years before the project started. We wanted to create something more impactful, and this longer preparation time allowed us to make significant improvements.” said Sally (machine translated from Indonesian)

The interview doesn’t reveal any details about the stable One UI 7.0 rollout, unfortunately. However, if you’ve been following us, you already know that Samsung has a few more betas in the pipeline for the Galaxy S24 series, which would be rolled out over the course of next 2-3 months. This means the stable rollout of One UI 7.0 isn’t happening anytime soon, at least before April.
